HOME OFFICE IN Quarantine

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD DO...
Maybe you've done home-office several times before. Maybe you've never done it and you're just facing your first time doing it. Whatever your case may be, what you have never experienced is the situation we are currently experiencing: a pandemic, with restrictions on our outlets to only the indispensable ones. This has definitely changed the home-office landscape a bit for several reasons:
We don't know when home-office time will end and it can be many days in a row.
If you have a partner or children, they will probably also be at home doing their own activities.
The number of times you leave home is limited, so it drastically increases the time you are inside.
At such a stage, it is important to take certain preparations so that your work at home is productive and your rest is restorative. The following are the recommendations we give you:
Wake up at the same time, and follow your morning routine as usual.
Even if you no longer have to take time to commute to work, wake up early, shower and get ready for the day. You may think you don't need to, "because no one sees you" or "you're comfortable that way." However, the simple fact of doing it helps you put your mind in "work" mode which will allow you to concentrate better. Not to mention that additionally seeing yourself in the mirror will make you feel motivated and encouraged.
Stick to your work schedule.
Even if you have the freedom to keep a flexible schedule, I recommend that you keep as close to your regular schedule as possible. Like this. At the beginning, at lunchtime, and at the end. This way, when it's time to rest, you will be able to do it with peace of mind, and it will be easier to dedicate yourself to leisure.
Work in a single space at home.
Assign a single place in your home: a room, a table, a chair that is dedicated only to work. Every day you will have to work there, and not somewhere else. This way that will be the work space and the rest of the house will remain a place of rest and relaxation.
Take advantage of natural light
Preferably try to work in natural light, and even when you take a break go out to a balcony, or to the door, or just to the window and enjoy the fresh air and the sun, for brief moments.
Make at least one phone call a day, and if possible on video.
Even if your job doesn't require it, at least make a videoconference with a colleague or boss. Seeing other people and being able to talk to them will make you feel less distant from both work and people, and will make the isolation time more bearable.
Don't multitask
When you are at home, it is very common to "multitask" and even combine home and work activities. Doing so is a lousy idea, because it will not allow you to concentrate on one thing or the other, and far from making progress, you will fall behind in both tasks.
Continue to develop yourself.
Take advantage of the time you need to stay at home and dedicate an hour or two to continue your development. Read a book, take a course, receive coaching, whatever you like, but try to maintain your professional development. That will bring you motivation and strength to continue.
We do not yet know when these extraordinary circumstances will end, so it is essential that we do our part and do everything we can to help ourselves and the companies we work for. Together, we can get out of this slump.
